The 5.11 Rush12 backpack is one of my favorite tactical backpacks on the market. The versatility and durability of this pack is something few other packs can match. I have used it to transport my laptop and other supplies to my office, I have used to carry all of my gear camping out in the wilderness, and I have used it on simple day hikes.
By and large the 5.11 Rush12, this has been my every day go to pack for the better part of three years and to this day, I couldn’t be happier with it.
Despite all I have put it through, the pack is still nearly in as good of condition as it was when I bought it. This is a testament not just to the quality of 5.11 products in general, it’s a testament to the 5.11 Rush line of packs which they offer.
As you may know 5.11’s Rush line of packs includes:
- 5.11 Rush 12 – Designed to carry up to 12 hours of supplies.
- 5.11 Rush 24 – Designed to carry up to 24 hours of supplies.
- 5.11 Rush 72 – Designed to carry up to 72 hours of supplies.
Out of all these packs, I prefer the 12, and here is why. Since I have had this tactical backpack I have used it numerous times to carry all of my supplies for different overnight backpacking and camping trips.
In some cases these camping trips were in remote forests, with no access to general services, you have no choice but to pack everything in. Even though the 5.11 Rush12 was only designed to carry 12 hours worth of supplies, I routinely found it was sufficient enough to carry supplies for up to seven days at a time!
If you truly find that you need more room you can consider upgrading to a larger pack, expect a small increase in price to account for that. As mentioned, I never found it to be necessary. However, if you are seeking to use your 5.11 Rush backpack for more than 7 days worth of supplies I would definitely give some of the larger packs some thought.
One of my favorite things about this pack is the countless pockets and zippers, 16 compartments total. I travel a lot and I have a need to store a wide range of objects with me as I travel.
When it comes to safety and security the pack has several pockets which are nestled away discretely and can be used to store valuables.
All in all if you are looking for a great multi use pack the 5.11 Rush12 may be exactly what you want. You can think of this tactical pack like an investment in your future because if you purchase a Rush12 there is a very good chance it will end up being your go to pack.
Pros:
- Multi purpose tactical pack that can be used for things like travel, day-to-day work, etc.
- Huge number of compartments (16 in total)
- Great durability, have owned mine for three years without issue
Cons:
- The bottom of my pack developed a small hole due to wear and tear, but it’s not even big enough to fit a pencil.
